Miracle Theatre, invited
by Jill Lamède of the
Maia Group, performed
Tartuffe on a warm July
evening in Enfield Park
in Camelford.
Molière’s controversial
comedy, banned in 1664
because of its portrayal
of religious hypocrisy,
became an energetic
and hilarious satire in
the masterful hands of
Miracle Theatre.
A brand new translation,
with music, by
BragaTanga, it was
perfectly suited to
Miracle Theatre’s talent
for satire, farce and
physical theatre.
The audience, spread over the sloping grass of Enfield Park, delighted in the play and the portrayal of the noxious Tartuffe. Picnics were enjoyed in the company of friends, and a very good evening was had by all.
