Eddie McCormick had forced his way in to a Council Meeting, dressed in full armour, to ask the Council to consider a Children’s Charter.
The children of Camelford Primary School were advised of the changes to their life and were instructed to appear, in force, outside the Darlington Inn, known locally as the Darly to protest against these Draconian changes. Jill Jeffs liaised with the school and the Guides to ensure that everybody knew where and when to revolt. There was a very good turn out of children in period costume (made by Jill and her helpers) and armed to the teeth with plastic swords and shields donated by the Charter Committee.
Standing in the street, waiting to address them, was the Bishop of Truro, The Right Reverend Tim Thornton, together with the newly appointed High Sheriff of Cornwall, Iain Mackay with his wife, and Lady Mary Holborow, Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall.
