Meanwhile, at Camelford Hall, Adult Education had set up a programme of workshops*, part funded by them and part funded by Charter 750, to invite people to try crafts of their choice. They set up tutors in Felt Making, Quill Making (an advertisement had gone into the local papers to find suitable feathers), Indigo Dyeing, Medieval Herbs, and Tassel Making.
I went to Camelford Hall at lunchtime where Ada McCormick was working to provide lunch for the tutors and Girl Guides who were providing back-up occupations for the children of people wanting to join the craft sessions. After lunch I joined a group making tassels, had great fun and was really proud of what I’d achieved.
Everyone, whatever they had chosen to do, enjoyed themselves hugely.
