Mediaeval Banquet

In terms of sheer effort, this was toughest event to deliver in the style we wanted. Yet it also demonstrated more than anything else the value of the team and how well we worked together.

Some weeks before the menu had been set. Ada McCormick and Clare Ireland were cooking for 100 guests plus entertainers and helpers. We had bought two copies of the same book about mediaeval celebrations, so we were ‘singing from the same hymn sheet’. Not all was authentic, but we did as much as we could*.

Tickets were sold, money gathered in and a table plan produced.

Eddie McCormick, in full knight’s costume, was our Master of Ceremonies and he and we took advice from Trevor Lawrence and his Mediaeval Music Band, Myska. The running order was set and the entertainment agreed.

The Lord and Lady for the Charter Anniversary month, Dave and Ang Goodman, had already been chosen, and dressed by Audrey Copus. Audrey had also provided some 38 costumes for those coming to the banquet,
