Allotment gardens
For some years a suitable site has been actively sought in Camelford in order to re-establish allotment gardens, not seen in the town for decades. This year, the movement has received a remarkable boost through the public spirited generosity of the licensee of the Mason’s Arms, Jo Old,
Jo has granted the Town Council a ten year lease on a field that she owns. It is of a sufficient size to provide some 40 people with substantial plots   Our picture shows the Mayor Cllr. Brian Lush, handing over the first year’s rent - one white rose to be paid on St. Piran’s Day, 5th March
The ceremony took place in the Mason’s Arms during a celebration of St.Piran’s Day hosted by Brenda Carne
